In the summer months, we could all use a break from the heat.
If you’re considering taking a summer skiing trip, you have more destinations to choose from than ever before. We know it can feel impossible to make the right choice!
In this post, we’re sharing 5 of our favorite summer skiing destinations with you.
1. Hintertux, Austria
There’s nothing quite like skiing in Austria — which is why these slopes are open year-round.
Located just outside of Innsbruck in the Ziller Valley, May and June are among the most popular months for this stunning destination.
Be sure to try out the new Funslope course, shaped like a figure-8. It’s especially wonderful for families with young children.
2. Saas Fee, Switzerland
These stunning slopes are open until late October, giving those who may have waited a bit too long to book their trip an opportunity to enjoy summer skiing.
With over 20 kilometers of slopes, it’s a wonderful choice. Plus, there’s even a freestyle skiing park, meaning that many skiers gather here to show off their impressive tricks.
Our favorite part? It’s certainly the revolving restaurant that sits atop the mountain.
3. Tignes, France
With 20 kilometers of slopes to choose from, there’s no possibility of getting bored in this location. Accessible by a beautiful funicular ride, you’ll be able to easily climb the roughly 3,400 meters to the top of the mountain.
Afterward, you can enjoy numerous other activities. These include things such as beach volleyball, swimming, tennis, and golf.
If you’re a cyclist, you’ll especially enjoy this destination. You’ll be given a free cycling pass at any of the tourist points, and you can take lifts to the tops of numerous runs you’ll then cycle down.
4. Whistler, Canada
Feel like crossing the pond this summer? If you do, then there’s certainly no better North American destination than Canada if skiing is on your agenda.
These slopes are geared a bit more towards experienced skiers, so if you’re still a beginner, you may want to consider other options for your trip.
In Whistler, located on the breathtaking Blackcomb Mountain, you’ll be taken to Horstman Glacier. If you enjoy racing, then this is the ideal spot for you. There are lots of courses to choose from, and it’s not uncommon to see a few competitions going on.
We especially love the halfpipe, where you can watch both skiers and snowboarders do flips and tricks.
5. Passo Stelvio, Italy
If you’re planning your trip for a bit later in the summer, this is the perfect spot for you.
Open until September, these slopes are beloved for the incredible scenery. Don’t forget to bring your camera, especially as you ride the ski lifts.
With 10 different runs to choose from, this is a destination fit for multiple levels.
